the tool is included in your accommodation plan, and
its use has been approved by your institution.
Without these conditions, the Read Aloud tool must not be used during the assessment. Always confirm this authorization with your institution or coordinator before the exam.
What is Microsoft Edge Read Aloud?
The Read Aloud function is a tool built into the Microsoft Edge browser. It allows on-screen content, such as a web page or PDF document, to be read aloud.
It may be used in Nexam if you have valid authorization.
Before the Assessment
Ensure that Microsoft Edge is installed and up to date on your computer.
Check that the Read Aloud function is enabled and test it before the exam.
If the use of this tool is part of your accommodation plan, inform the exam supervisor in advance.
Using Read Aloud in Nexam
Open your assessment in Microsoft Edge.
Activate Read Aloud by clicking the Read Aloud icon in the menu, or by using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Shift + U (Windows) or Command + Shift + U (Mac).
Click on the section of text you want to be read aloud.
Use the control bar to pause, skip forward, rewind, or adjust speed and voice.
The tool will highlight the text being read, making it easier to follow along on screen.
