Why your device time matters
When taking an exam on the Nexam platform, the local time zone of your device determines the exam’s start time. If your device clock is incorrect or out of sync, you may experience the following issues:
The exam does not appear at the scheduled time
The exam is temporarily restricted or unavailable
The countdown timer shows an incorrect remaining time
This typically happens when your device is not synchronized with Internet time.
How to fix this issue
To ensure your exam appears correctly and the timer is accurate, enable automatic time synchronization based on your operating system.
On Windows 10
Click the Start menu
Select the gear icon to open Settings
Go to Time & Language > Date & Time
Enable both of the following options:
Set time automatically
Set time zone automatically
On Windows 11
Click the Start menu
Select the gear icon to open Settings
In the left-hand menu, click Time & Language
Turn on both:
Set time automatically
Set time zone automatically
On macOS
Here’s how to automatically set the date, time, and time zone:
Click the Apple icon in the top-left corner of your screen, then select System Settings.
Go to General, then select Date & Time.
In the Date & Time tab, check Set date and time automatically.
In the Time Zone tab, check Set time zone automatically using your current location. Important: Location Services must be enabled for the time zone to be set automatically based on your current location.
On older versions of macOS, a padlock may appear at the bottom of the window. Click it and enter your password to make changes.
