Adjusting your screen resolution

Your screen resolution doesn’t meet the minimum requirements to start your exam? Here’s how to adjust it depending on your device.

Why check your screen resolution?

A proper screen resolution is essential to ensure a smooth exam experience on the Nexam platform. If your screen resolution is too low or your display scaling is too high, you may encounter the following issues:

  • Inability to start the exam

  • Incomplete interface (writing area not fully visible, buttons missing)

  • Slowness or erratic browser behaviour

Steps to adjust your resolution

On Windows

  1. Click the Start menu

  2. Select the Settings gear icon

  3. Go to System, then click on Display

  4. Under Scale and layout:

    • Set Scale to 100%

    • Set Display resolution to the recommended value (ideally 1920 x 1080 if available)

Tips:

  • On smaller screens, avoid scaling above 125%

  • To change only the text size: go to Settings > Accessibility > Text size

On macOS

  1. Click the Apple icon at the top left

  2. Select System Settings or System Preferences

  3. Click Displays

  4. Choose Default for display, or Scaled if you need to adjust resolution

On Chromebook

  1. Click the time or battery icon in the bottom right corner

  2. Open the Settings (gear icon)

  3. Go to Device > Display

  4. Make sure Display size is set to 100%

If you're still having trouble

If you can’t meet the required resolution:

  • Connect an external monitor

  • Temporarily reduce text size or display scaling

  • Restart your device after making adjustments
