Recommended preparations
The day before or the morning of your exam, take the time to prepare your workspace. An optimal setup of your device and network helps reduce the risk of interruptions or slowdowns during the assessment.
Make sure that:
Your computer is plugged into a power source to prevent sleep mode or unexpected shutdown.
You use a wired (Ethernet) internet connection, which is more stable than Wi-Fi, especially for proctored exams.
No one else is heavily using the internet connection during your exam (e.g., streaming, downloading, online gaming).
Your operating system has been updated recently to fix vulnerabilities and enhance performance.
You restart your computer on the morning of the exam to free up system resources.
All non-essential applications are closed, including extra browsers, video conferencing tools, and background programs.
Notifications (email, messaging, system updates) are turned off to minimize distractions.
Your webcam is functional and positioned properly.
You are seated in a quiet, uninterrupted space, in accordance with exam monitoring requirements.
Check your screen and camera permissions
Before the exam, it is essential to test your setup via the platform:
Go to https://app.nexam.io
In the left-hand menu, click on Validate your device
Go to the Video sharing test section
Perform the following checks:
Ensure that screen sharing works, especially if required for your exam
Confirm that your webcam is active and your image is clear and well positioned
These tests help you detect and resolve potential issues before the official start of the exam.
In case of temporary freezing
If your screen freezes or becomes temporarily unresponsive during the exam:
Wait a few seconds; it could be a brief network delay.
Click the ↻ button in the upper left corner of the Chrome window.
If prompted, re-authorize screen sharing.
Nexam’s security features allow you to resume your work exactly where you left off, with no loss of content.
If your device does not meet the recommended requirements (RAM, OS, browser), you may experience slow rendering or scrolling during the exam. Running the device validation beforehand is your best way to avoid these issues.
