Automatic compatibility validation before an exam

Explains the technical checks performed before an exam and what to do if a requirement fails.

What are the technical requirements for?

Before you start your exam, Nexam checks that your device, browser and connection can support the evaluation.

These validations help detect certain issues before the exam starts, such as an unstable connection, a network block, an upload issue or a lack of available space on the device. If a validation fails, access to the exam may be blocked until the issue is resolved.

What should I do if a validation fails?

Start by running the validation again in Nexam.

If the error persists, check which requirement is failing, then follow the related recommendations. After each correction, run the validation again to confirm that the issue is resolved. We also recommend using an up-to-date version of Chrome or Edge.

Connection to Nexam

This validation confirms that your browser can reach the Nexam platform through the internet. If this validation fails, first make sure your internet connection is active and stable. You can try opening other websites to confirm that your internet access is working.

If you are using a VPN, temporarily disable it, then run the validation again. Some browser extensions, such as ad blockers or privacy tools, may also block certain exchanges. You can temporarily disable them or try using a private window.

If you are on a school, institutional or corporate network, a firewall may block access to Nexam. In that case, contact your IT team.

Primary upload

This validation confirms that your browser can send data to Nexam.

If it fails, your connection may allow you to open Nexam, but block the sending of certain data. This type of block may come from a firewall, antivirus, security software or browser extension.

Start with the same checks as for the connection to Nexam: internet connection, VPN, extensions and an up-to-date browser.

If the problem persists, try another network, such as a mobile hotspot. This helps confirm whether the block comes from the network being used.

Secondary upload

This validation confirms that video data can be sent to the secure storage space used by Nexam. This validation is important for exams with video monitoring. If it fails, video data may not be transmitted correctly during the exam.

If you are using a school, institutional or corporate network, a firewall may block this transfer. You can try another network, such as a mobile hotspot.

Available space

This validation checks that your device has enough space for the browser to temporarily store video data before sending it to Nexam.

This space acts as a buffer. It is useful if your connection slows down or drops during the exam.

The possible statuses are:

Status

Meaning

Recommended action

Passed

More than 1 GB of available space.

No action required. You can continue.

Warning

Between 500 MB and 1 GB of available space.

The exam can continue, but space is limited. We recommend freeing up space before starting.

Failed

Less than 500 MB of available space, or the browser cannot check local storage.

You must free up space or use a compatible browser before continuing.

To free up space, you can empty the trash, delete large files, close unused applications or clear the browser cache.

It is better to use a regular window rather than a private window. Some browsers limit available storage in private mode.

What should I do if the issue persists?

If the issue continues after these checks, send support a screenshot of the message displayed, the name of the requirement that failed, the browser used and the type of device. This information will help the support team guide you more quickly.
