Email address not recognized or email alias used to sign in

Understand why Nexam does not recognize an email address and what to check before asking for help.

Why isn’t my email address recognized?

If Nexam says that your email address is invalid, not recognized, or that no account is linked to this address, it usually means that the email address entered does not exactly match the one registered in Nexam.

To sign in, you must use the full email address associated with your Nexam account.

Even if you receive emails at another address or an alias, only the email address registered in Nexam can be used to sign in.

What is an email alias?

An email alias is another address that redirects messages to your main inbox.

For example, your institution may allow you to receive emails at a shortened address, but may have registered a different full address in Nexam.

Even if both addresses lead to the same inbox, Nexam may only recognize the exact email address registered in your profile.

What to check

Before trying again, make sure the email address entered exactly matches the one provided by your institution.

Check the following:

  • Dots in the address

  • Numbers

  • Word order

  • Domain name

  • Abbreviations

  • Spaces before or after the address

  • Email redirects or aliases

Tip: Copy and paste the address from an official communication sent by your institution, if available. Then make sure no extra space was added before or after the address.

If you use a sign-in partner

If your institution asks you to use a sign-in partner, such as Microsoft or Google, the address used with that partner must match the address associated with your Nexam account.

If you use another address, Nexam may not recognize your account.

If you received a code or invitation email

Receiving an invitation email does not mean that every variation of your email address will work to sign in.

You must use the exact email address linked to your Nexam account.

If your invitation code has already been used, try signing in directly with your email address and password.

If you forgot your password, use the Forgot password option on the sign-in page.

If the problem continues

If you have checked your email address and still cannot sign in, confirm with your institution which exact email address was used to register you in Nexam.

You can also contact Nexam technical support at [email protected].

To help us process your request faster, include:

  • The email address you are using to sign in

  • The error message displayed

  • The name of your course or evaluation

  • The date of your evaluation, if it is coming soon

Key takeaway

  • To sign in to Nexam, always use the full exact email address associated with your account.

  • A shortened address, an alias, or a small difference in the email address can prevent Nexam from recognizing your account.
