Available layouts in an essay-type assessment
Depending on the settings defined by the exam administrator, you may have access to:
The text editor only
The spreadsheet only
Both the text editor and the spreadsheet
If the document viewer is enabled (text, PDF, video, etc.), it always appears on the right side of the screen, regardless of the selected layout.
Navigation via the left-hand menu
From the left-hand menu, you can choose:
Writing: to access the text editor only
Spreadsheet: to access the spreadsheet only
These options allow you to focus on a single workspace at a time.
Activating the 3-column view
To combine multiple workspaces:
Click the 3-column view button at the top right of the screen.
You will then see:
The text editor
The spreadsheet
The document viewer (if available)
All displayed side by side in a single screen.
When to use the 3-column view
This option is especially useful when:
The exam requires structured essay writing supported by calculations or data analysis.
You need to consult supporting documents while working on your answer.
It improves efficiency and ergonomics by avoiding frequent screen changes.
Who can use this feature?
The 3-column view is available to all participants when the assessment includes a spreadsheet and/or supporting documents.
